By sending a Thank You to someone via email, you are confirming that you know or have a connection with the person you are thanking and that they would be happy to receive a Thank You from you.

You own all of the content and information you post.

For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos ("IP content"), you specifically give us the following permission: you grant Macmillan a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with the site ("IP License"). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it.

When you delete IP content, it is deleted in a manner similar to emptying the recycle bin on a computer. However, you understand that removed content may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time (but will not be available to others).

When creating a profile you acknowledge that the information you provide in your profile and your personal information, as well as in letters, comments and Thank Yous are truthful and consistent with English law. You are not allowed to create profiles on behalf of another person.

Macmillan reserves the right, without reservation or prior notice, to delete/modify profiles which commercially exploit Macmillan or contain some form of advertising, are offensive, untrue, discriminatory, libellous, or otherwise judged not to meet the standards of the site, concept and general good manners.

By entering your email address you agree that we have the permission to send you various messages. This also provides a contingency, should you forget your password and need us to send it to your email.

Users are not allowed to send or forward internal mails or otherwise publish content on Macmillan containing commercial, harassing, discriminatory or libellous content, chain letters or sensitive information (such as contact information) about other people. Systematic mass mailing of identical letters to a large number of profiles is prohibited and will be considered spam.

By creating a profile on Macmillan you hereby allow us to show your public profile to Macmillan and Biggest Thank You users and users on associated websites, in email advertising, at Macmillan and in marketing material.

Users are not allowed to invite to, organise or advertise events with any sort of financial gain for the organisers. Publishing of events with advance payment, subscription lists or other organised content is not permitted at Macmillan without prior permission.

By uploading any type of content to Macmillan the user states that he is in possession of the full copyright of the given material. Users are therefore not permitted without prior authorisation of the holder of these rights, to post images that are downloaded from external websites.

Any violation of this regulation will result in immediate deactivation of the profile and all related content. In the event that English law is violated, the offence will be reported to the police, included IP numbers used in the login/creation, and any other relevant information about the user and the content posted in relation to the violation.

Should your account be totally inactive, an administrator may delete it without prior notice.

Terms of profile photos:

1. The image must be of you. It must be contemporary and you must have the right to use the picture.
2. The image may not contain logos, links or references to other websites.
3. The image must be of such a size and quality, that it’s clear to see who the person is.
4. The image cannot contain photo collages or text.
5. The image must be rotated correctly.
6. The image must not be pornographic.
7. The images may only be of personal relevance, ie. no images that are downloaded from the internet and no images of Tom Cruise - unless you stand next to him.

Site users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way. Here are some commitments you make to us relating to registering and maintaining the security of your account:

1. You will not provide any false personal information on the site, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.
2. You will not create more than one personal profile.
3. If we disable your account, you will not create another one without our permission.

We do our best to keep the site safe, but we cannot guarantee it. We need your help to do that, which includes the following commitments:

1. You will not post unauthorised commercial communications (such as spam).
2. You will not post content that: is hateful, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence.
