How do I apply for my own place in the London Triathlon?

London Triathlon has now filled all its places.

What do I do if the run organisers have already filled all their places?

If the official entry system is full, you can still apply for one of our guaranteed places for which we ask for a pledge to raise a minimum of £500 for people affected by cancer.

How do I apply for a Team Macmillan Guaranteed Place?

Team Macmillan has purchased some Guaranteed Places in the Mazda London Triathlon, which we will allocate to runners who have missed out on obtaining their own place. In return for one of these we ask for a minimum sponsorship pledge of £500.

When will I find out whether I've been successful in obtaining a Guaranteed Place?

We will call you 3 days after you sent your application form to let you know if you have been offered a Team Macmillan Guaranteed Place.

How much money do I have to raise?

We ask that all our Guaranteed Place runners pledge to raise a minimum of £500.  This will be due in two months after the event (10 October 2008). Of course we'll give you all the encouragement and support you'll need to make sure you smash that target.

If you have already secured your own place then we do not set a minimum sponsorship target for you, we just ask you to raise as much as possible and we'll provide you with the same level of care and support that our guaranteed place runners receive.

What kind of support will Macmillan give me if I join the team?

When you join Team Macmillan you will be supported throughout your entire Mazda London Triathlon experience. In addition to our initial fundraising pack, we'll send you regular newsletters with tips to help you prepare for the big day. And if that isn't enough, we will give you the loudest support from our supporter point.

What happens if I get injured?

If you are injured whilst training we recommend you contact your GP or a specialist sports injury clinic. They will be able to advise you if you are fit enough to take part.   If you do need to withdraw you will need to notify the race organisers as soon as possible and return your race number and running chip (if you have received them by then). Please also let Macmillan know that you will not be taking part.

When will I get my race number?

The race organisers will send you your race number and your running chip around a month before the race. These are vital and you will not be able to start the race without them.

Where can I find more specific information about the event?

Go to www.thelondontraithlon.co.uk for more information about the event, training information and details of accommodation in the local area.

What difference will my sponsorship make?

The Mazda London Triathlon is a major fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support. Your support will go a huge way to help people affected by cancer, for example:

  • It costs around £75 to help someone gain an average of £3,000 a year in benefits.
  • £128 could fund a Macmillan nurse for one day.
  • £220 could fund 1,000 copies of The Cancer Guide.
  • £350 could pay for a much-needed holiday for someone with cancer and their carer.
  • £50,000 could pay for a small information suite in a hospital or library.
