Federation of Holistic Therapists
Founded in 1962, the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been promoting the highest standards in therapy practice for 50 years. It is the UK and Ireland's largest professional association for complementary, holistic beauty and sports therapists, representing 17,000 members. Those accessing treatments from FHT Members can rest assured that their therapist is highly professional, qualified to national occupational standards, and appropriately insured. All FHT members must abide by the FHT Code of Ethics and Professional Practice and are subject to a Professional Conduct Procedure in the event of a complaint. Many FHT members have experience and/or have undertaken specialist training for working with patients who have cancer (please ask your therapist at point of enquiry). FHT members would never claim that they can 'cure' cancer, but instead can offer valuable support throughout a client's cancer journey, alongside conventional medical care. Amongst many others, FHT members may offer one or more of the following: aromatherapy; Bowen technique; cranial sacral therapy; hypnotherapy; massage therapy; nutritional therapy; reflexology; reiki; shiatsu; skin camouflage; sports and remedial massage; and yoga therapy. For a full list of the therapies offered by FHT members, please visit www.fht.org.uk. Members of the public can search for an FHT member, by area or therapy, at www.findmytherapist.org. Please note that not all FHT members are listed on the FHT's websites. Those who would like to verify whether a therapist is an FHT member can do so by contacting the FHT direct.
