The money you raise will help us provide more information to people affected by cancer.
More than 4,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in North Wales every year.
Macmillan can help by providing:
Health Specialists
Macmillan professionals are specialists in their area of cancer care. They help people manage their symptoms and aim to make living with cancer easier.
People in North Wales already benefit from 52 Macmillan professionals, including Macmillan nurses, GP facilitator, benefits advisers and specialist social workers.
Someone to talk to
Macmillan is there for people with cancer, their families and friends to talk, listen and understand what they are going through. Macmillan also helps support a network of self-help and support groups in North Wales.
Financial Help
Having cancer can bring extra costs - hospital parking and traveling expenses, extra heating, different clothes. Macmillan can help - In 2007 we gave £167,883 to 464 people in North Wales to help with these costs. Macmillan believes no one should be financially deprived as a result of their illness.
Clear Information
Having the right information about cancer at the right time is essential. The Macmillan CancerLine provides fee information and emotional support for people living with cancer and we also have the Macmillan YouthLine for people aged 12 -21
Thanks to your generous support we raised £241,000 in 2007
This year we need to raise £271,000.
This will help fund a Macmillan Information Centre and Information Clinical Nurse Specialist. The centre will be based at The Shooting Star Unit in Wrexham and a Specialist Social Worker who will work with the palliative care team, to support families in their homes and community.
