Tim Aust rides from Land's end to John o'groats

847 miles to go in 10 days! I planned to start on the 22 August 2007 at Lands end, the over night stops were B&B's booked 2 days in advance.

This would work out to be 85 miles a day, the most I had ever cycled in one day was 65/70 miles, but with some extra training, a following wind and all day to ride if necessary, it was achievable.

Tim Aust. The Start!
Tim Aust. The Start!

Day 1: I set off at 9am picking up the A30 to Launceton, arrived at 3pm , 80 miles total.

Day 2: 75 miles to Taunton along the A3.

Day 3: 100 miles to Hereford, A38 towards Bristrol then to the Severn Bridge.

Day 4: 95 miles to Winsford staying on the A49.

Day 5: 90 miles to Kendel.

Day 6: 100 miles to Lockerbie.

Day 7: 90 miles to Alexandria.

Day 8: 90 miles to Glencoe.

Day 9. The plan changed at this point, rather then camp in Inverness which would be 80 miles, this would leave 120 miles for the last day,it was decided to push on through Inverness to Alness another 20 miles and camp there.

Day 10: The sign for John O'Groats finally came into view and not long after I was having a pint in the Pub looking over the sea, the sign read Lands End 847miles.

A huge congratulations to Tim and a huge thank you for the fantastic amount of money raised which totalled £3041.47. Thank you.
