Fundraising Teds

Fundraising Teds get warned about their speed!

Each year, 2 million people are living with cancer nationally and 2,500 people in Bedfordshire receive a cancer diagnosis.

In Bedfordshire there are more than 40 Macmillan nurses, doctors and other professionals, including speech and language therapists, information officers, a dietitian and a pharmacist. Macmillan professionals use their expertise to help patients manage symptons and side effects, to provide practical ways of living with cancer and to support patients and their families at every stage of their illness.

When you're too ill to work, the cost of travelling to hospital for life saving treatment should be the last thing on your mind. But money worries can be a huge problem, which is why Macmillan gave £70,000 in small grants to 213 people in Bedfordshire last year - paying for anything from a warm duvet to a family day out. The Macmillan Welfare Rights Service in Bedford and Dunstable also provides advice on the types of financial support to which cancer patients are entitled.
