Volunteers' Week is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering, which takes place from 1-7 June each year. Macmillan would like to say a big THANK YOU to the thousands of Macmillan Cancer Support volunteers for their amazing work. You are an integral part of all our work - whether you cheer at an event, campaign for change or work in our offices - you've made a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer. Macmillan staff Naomi, Carol, Janice and Val tell us why they couldn't do it without you...
'Cancer Voices are volunteers who offer Macmillan something unique - their cancer experience and what they have learned through it. They are experts by experience. Their involvement helps Macmillan with services we deliver and develop, and our campaigning, fundraising and policy work. I would like to say thank you to all of our Cancer Voices as they make a huge impact on the work we do and a real difference to the lives of everyone living with cancer.'
'The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service in Easterhouse could not function without the dedication and commitment of our team of volunteers. They provide support as well as that all important listening ear. The difference volunteers make to people affected by cancer is massive and I'd like to say a special thank you to all the volunteers, not just at Easterhouse, but at Macmillan centres across the country, who offer such invaluable support to people affected by cancer.'
'Our office volunteers are invaluable. They help us with a number of different tasks, including project working, admin support for events, meeting management, even some filing! And lots lots more.
'Without them we could not meet our deadlines or have the office so organised, which overall would affect our and Macmillan's support to those affected by cancer. I couldn't be without them.'
