Teaching pack - Cancertalk

Use the pack during Cancertalk Week|, our annual awareness-raising event, or whenever suits you best.

The Cancertalk teaching pack will help you to cover cancer as part of your PSHE/PSE/PSD & Citizenship lessons. Use the pack to:

• explain how cancer develops, its causes, symptoms and treatments
• reduce any fears about cancer and encourage pupils to talk about it
• give advice to your class about ways to cope with serious illness if it affects them or people around them
• show your class how they can support people affected by cancer
• encourage your class to make healthy lifestyle choices to help reduce their risk of getting cancer.

The  pack includes:

• an information booklet with guidance on using the Cancertalk pack in your school, facts about cancer for teachers, fundraising ideas and lists of useful contacts and publications
• activity sheets for Key Stages 2-4/P3-S4 with notes for teachers
• a DVD covering modules for both primary and secondary schools, including English and Welsh subtitle tracks
• a classroom poster about cancer and its treatments.
