Be inspired to get together with family and friends to go Miles for Macmillan in Oxford
Our walk begins on Port Meadow and Wolvercote Common, a scheduled Ancient Monument and an area of tranquil pastoral beauty where the landscape has changed little since prehistoric times. Cattle and horses graze freely whilst spectacular flocks of wildfowl and waders abound.
Our route passes through the Burgess Field nature reserve, following a small section along the Oxford Canal before crossing back across the meadow to follow the path alongside the River Isis as the Thames is called here.
Of historical interest are the ruins of Godstow Priory, a medieval nunnery, where ‘Fair Rosamund’ the beautiful mistress of Henry II was exiled after her love affair with the king became a scandal.
Enjoy the perfect Sunday stroll with family and friends of all ages whilst raising money to support local people living with cancer.
