Lynette's story

Lynne feels Macmillan Cancer Support really has really gone that extra mile for her, and for others like her. So despite still feeling the effects of her recent therapy, Lynne has walked that extra mile to show her support.

'I’d only just finished a course of treatment for cancer when I took part in the Penshurst walk earlier this year. I was really nervous, as I was still feeling weak as a result of my therapy, but I really wanted to get involved to show my appreciation for Macmillan’s help and support – and to help them offer the same to other people like me in the UK who are living with cancer.

'Eight miles is a long way for me, and quite a few times I wondered if I’d be able to finish it. My daughter and several friends were great, though. They had great faith in me, which really lifted my spirits and spurred me on.

'I was over the moon and really proud to finish it and help give something back to Macmillan, who’ve been so brilliant with me through really difficult times. I felt like I really achieved something for myself and for Macmillan. It was a great day.'
