Fundraising manager Kelly lost her father-in-law and grandmother to cancer. She’s proud to be a part of Macmillan’s work, and her young family is literally following in her footsteps.
'Macmillan’s nurses were amazing with my father-in-law Martin, and his wife Pauline, while he was ill. They did everything they could to make Martin comfortable, and when he passed away in 2005, they gave Pauline invaluable support dealing with her loss. It’s what inspired me to go and work for Macmillan, and today I’m Fundraising Manager for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.'
'I also recently lost my grandmother to cancer, and Macmillan’s support was again outstanding, so I’m really proud to be a part of the charity.'
'Martin was diagnosed with cancer on the same day my oldest son Tom was born. Tom was only eleven weeks old when Martin passed away aged just 59. My daughter Hannah was only four, but she remembers Martin, and has since walked the ‘Toddle in the Dean’ and ‘Tyne Stride’ twice with us, along with hundreds of others, to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.' 'Now, whenever Hannah helps us with fundraising, she always says it’s for ‘Grandad in Yorkshire, and Granny.’ Hannah and Tom, and even our youngest, Dan, are all in on the action for Macmillan.'
