Find answers to all the most common questions about taking part in a Triathlon event for Macmillan Cancer Support.
An own place entry is one that you have secured directly through the race organisers. This usually involves paying an entry fee and registering on the events official website or completing an entry form.
Most event entries are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The race organiser will notify you if your entry has been accepted. If it has, we would love you to join Team Macmillan and raise as much as you can for people affected by cancer. If you've secured your own place and would like to join Team Macmillan, find your Triathlon event| now and complete our online application form to join the team.
Team Macmillan has a number of guaranteed places for which we ask for a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship total. The availability of guaranteed places varies from event to event, so please refer to the specific event page to check if Macmillan are able to offer you a guaranteed place.
A Macmillan guaranteed place is an entry that we have purchased directly from the race organisers. We then allocate these places to runners who haven't been able to secure their own place, in return for a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship level.
If you have already secured your own place then we do not set a minimum sponsorship target for you, we just ask you to raise as much as possible and we'll provide you with the same level of care and support that our guaranteed place runners receive.
We ask that anyone that has one of our guaranteed places raise a minimum of £400. This will be due in one month after the event. Of course we'll give you all the encouragement and support you need to make sure you smash that target.
When you join Team Macmillan you will be supported throughout your entire Triathlon experience.
In addition to our initial fundraising pack, we'll send you regular newsletters with tips to help you prepare for the big day. And if that isn't enough, we will give you the loudest support from our supporter points and offer a well deserved congratulations at the end of the race.
If you are injured while training we recommend you contact your GP or a specialist sports injury clinic. They will be able to advise you if you are fit enough to take part.
If you do need to withdraw you will need to notify the race organisers as soon as possible and return your race number and running chip. Please let Team Macmillan know that you will not be taking part.
The race organisers will send you your race number and your running chip around a month before the race. These are vital and you will not be able to start the race without them.
Your support will go a huge way to help people affected by cancer, for example:
