When it comes to support, there's no competition. Find out everything you need to know about entering, training and completing the Yorkshire Swimming Festival.
Team Macmillan guaranteed places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available soon. If you would prefer us to post you out a form, please just let us know on 0207 840 4619.
If you have already signed up and paid for your place directly from the swim organisers (and have received confirmation of this), we would love to have you as part of Team Macmillan, raising money for people affected by cancer. Once you’ve secured your own place, register to join Team Macmillan online| and we’ll send you a fundraising pack containing lots of fundraising and training advice.
An aquathlon is a two-stage event involving a swim and a run. For this event, the distances are a 1km open water swim and a 5km run (two laps around the lake). For more details and a route map please click here|.
We do not ask for a minimum amount of sponsorship, however we ask all swimmers on a guaranteed charity place to try and raise £100. Whatever you raise we are extremely grateful for and it will go a long way to helping people living with cancer.
When you join Team Macmillan you will be supported throughout your entire Yorkshire Swimming Festival experience. In addition to our initial training and fundraising pack, we will send you regular newsletters full of tips to help you prepare for the big day. And if that isn’t enough, we will be there on the day to give you all the support, encouragement and congratulations you deserve (not to mention a nice hot drink after your swim!).
Of course! When you sign up to swim in the Yorkshire Swimming Festival with Team Macmillan, we will provide you with a comprehensive training pack and regular newsletters full of top training tips, including advice from our Team Macmillan patrons. We will also advise you of other useful sources of information to help you prepare for the big day.
If you get injured while training we recommend you contact your GP, physio or specialist sports injury clinic. They will be able to advise if you are fit enough to swim.
If you do need to withdraw you will need to inform the Yorkshire Swimming Festival race organisers as soon as possible. Please also let Macmillan know so that we can update our database.
Yes. A wetsuit and wave-specific swimming cap are compulsory for both swim distances. You will need to provide your own wetsuit (although these can be hired) but your swimming cap will be given to you on the day of the swim.
Yorkshire Swimming Festival will send your start wave time, registration details and further swim information four weeks before the swim day. You will then be required to register to swim on the day of the event where you will receive your timing chip and a numbered, wave specific swimming cap.
