Find out everything you need to know about entering, training and completing the Great East swim.
Public entry for 2013 is now open. Secure your place at www.greatswim.org| where there is an entry fee which will be taken by credit/debit card when you apply. You'll then receive a confirmation email from the event organisers to confirm your place.
Once you’ve secured your own place, register to join Team Macmillan online| and we’ll send you a fundraising pack containing lots of fundraising and training advice.
Please fill out our application form| and return to us as soon as you can. Your entry fee will be covered with a charity place, but you'll need to commit to raising £175 for Macmillan.
Our charity places are for the 1 mile distance only - if you would like to swim a different distance you will need to get your own place in the event, but of course still fundraise for us.
If you have your own place we do not ask for a minimum amount of sponsorship. We just encourage and support all swimmers to raise as much as possible.
If you secure a Macmillan guaranteed charity place we ask that you aim to raise £175, but your entry fee is covered.
Whatever you raise we're extremely grateful. It will go a long way to helping people living with cancer.
When you join Team Macmillan you'll be supported throughout your entire Great East Swim experience.
In addition to our initial training and fundraising pack, we'll send you regular newsletters full of tips to help you prepare for the big day. And if that isn’t enough, we'll be there on the day to give you all the support, encouragement and congratulations you deserve.
Of course! When you sign up to swim the Great East Swim with Team Macmillan, we'll provide you with a comprehensive training pack and regular newsletters full of top training tips, including advice from our Team Macmillan patrons. We'll also advise you of other useful sources of information to help you prepare for the big day.
If you get injured while training we recommend you contact your GP, physio or specialist sports injury clinic. They'll be able to advise if you're fit enough to swim. If you do need to withdraw you'll need to inform the Great Swim race organisers as soon as possible. Please also let us know so that we can update our database.
You'll receive your race number direct from the race organisers in the two weeks preceding the event. If you don't receive your race pack, then we advise you to contact the organisers direct by emailing info@greatswim.org|.
Visit www.greatswim.org| for a map of the course, training info and much more.
