Iwan Thomas gives advice on how to avoid getting injured whilst training.
'Unfortunately with running, the harder you train, you are likely to get injured. But you can try and prevent that. As boring as it seems – warm up before you go for a run.' 'You may think ‘I’m going to warm up as I run’ but do a little bit of stretching. Do five to ten minutes of good stretching and maybe a few little shuttle runs before you go on your run, otherwise it’s such a shock to your system that you won’t get your blood pumping and your heart rate high before you go on your run.' 'Also, when you have finished your run, I hate having to do this but, warm down. That’s really important. You need to get your muscles nice and relaxed after your run because otherwise if you don’t, you are going to wake up the next morning and your body will be aching. So warm up and warm down.'
