The next Bupa Great Birmingham Run takes place on Sunday 20 October 2013. Read on to find out everything you need to know about taking part in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Public registration for the 2013 Great Birmingham Run is open at the official race website|.
Once you have secured a place in the run, and you have paid your registration fee and received confirmation of your place from the race organisers, you can join Team Macmillan| by filling in our online form and we will send you out a fundraising and training pack and a Macmillan running top.
There is no minimum sponsorship amount that you need to raise if you secure your own place, we just ask you to raise as much as you can.
To apply for a charity place in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run you will need to fill out a guaranteed place application form|. Once you have completed the form please send it back to us at greatbirmingham@macmillan.org.uk|, fax to 0800 007 3525, or post to Team Macmillan, 89 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7UQ.
We will contact you within three working days to confirm your place.
We ask everyone on a Team Macmillan guaranteed charity place to raise a minimum £250 in sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We ask all of our guaranteed place runners to pledge to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship for the Great Birmingham Run. This will be due in one month after the event (20 November 2013). Please make all cheques payable to 'Macmillan Cancer Support' and send to:

If you have secured your own place then we just ask you to raise as much as possible. We will provide you with the same level of care and support that our guaranteed place runners receive.
Your 'own place' means that you have registered for the Bupa Great Birmingham Run directly with the race organisers through their website www.greatrun.org|. Plus you would have paid an entry fee directly to the Bupa Great Birmingham Run. You will then receive an email from the Bupa Great Birmingham Run race organisers (Nova International) stating that you have a place in this event.
If this is the case, congratulations and we'd be delighted for you to join Team Macmillan. Please regsiter using our online form|, or contact us with your details.
A 'charity guaranteed place' means that you have completed a guaranteed charity place application form|. We will notify you by phone to confirm that your application was successful.
The Bupa Great Birmingham Run organisers will contact you directly to let you know that you have been successful in obtaining a place in the 2012 event. If you have any queries please contact them directly by either calling 0845 389 2200 or emailing info@greatrun.org|

When you sign up to run the Bupa Great Birmingham Run with Team Macmillan we’ll provide you with a comprehensive half marathon training pack and regular newsletters full of top training tips, including advice from our Team Macmillan patrons. We will also advise you of other useful sources of information to help you prepare for the big day.
If you or any of your team mates get injured while training we recommend you contact your GP, physio or specialist sports injury clinic. They will be able to advise you if you are fit enough to run.
If you do need to withdraw you will need to inform the Bupa Great Birmingham Run race organisers as soon as possible. Please also let Macmillan know so that we can advise you about transferring your place.
Your official race number and timing chip will be sent to you directly from the Bupa Great Birmingham Run race organisers approximately two weeks before the event.
