It's that time of year again when people come up with a range of new years resolutions. Whilst other are cutting down on alcohol, chocolate or joining the gym I fancied a bigger long term challenge and that was to do a triathlon and raise money for Macmillan.
There are many reasons why I’ve decided to do the Blenheim triathlon for Macmillan - I enjoy swimming, cycling and running (so 750m swim, 20km bike and 6km run sounds like fun!), I wanted something to aim for so that I do go out and get fit (even at 6am in the morning) and I wanted to give something back to Macmillan.
From personal experience I have been aware for many years of the fantastic work that Macmillan do across Wales and I was lucky enough to join the Macmillan Wales team last year as their policy officer. Since then I have been involved in fundraising events that Macmillan have organised, including Gower Macmarathon and coffee morning.
Through working for Macmillan I understand even more the significant impact that we have on people affected by cancer so it was an easy decision to do the triathlon for Macmillan. My pack and green vest has arrived this week, so the hard work starts now and hopefully I can inspire other people to support Macmillan.
