A proud moment for David, family and friends
Put on your glad rags for a night of glitz and glamour. A chance to enjoy great food, dance the night away whilst at the same time raise awareness and funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Summer Ball is being held at the Hilton Hotel, Langstone, Newport, NP18 2LX.
It is being organised by Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Volunteers David and Claire Thompson.
The event has the full support of the local Macmillan Office (Gwent and South Powys) and they will be represented during the evening.
We are also delighted that the Summer Ball is kindly being supported by staff from Barclays throughout the local area.
David and Claire are participating in the Macmillan Mount Kilimanjaro hiking challenge in January 2014 and as part of their fundraising activities they have decided to organise a summer ball. As far as hiking challenges go it will be a first for Claire but David has already participated in Macmillan hiking challenges including Mount Kilimanjaro – three times, Iceland, Peru’s Inca Trail and the Sahara. As a result of David’s commitment to Macmillan he was a torch bearer in the 2012 Olympic games.
'David and I are passionate about working with Macmillan as we have close family members who have been diagnosed with cancer. David’s father sadly passed away in December 2010 having fought his short battle with an aggressive cancerous tumour. My father was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in July 2012 and has received eight cycles of chemotherapy and ongoing treatment. So our whole family have benefited from the much needed support and care that Macmillan have provided, this is our way of giving something back.'
Tickets cost £30 per person which includes:
a three course dinner
tea/coffee after your meal
We are planning fun events during the night to include:
heads and tails
