Wildlife broadcaster Iolo Williams is encouraging everyone across Wales to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support - by putting the kettle on.
The charity wants thousands of people across the country to take part in this year's World's Biggest Coffee Morning.
Last year hundreds of Macmillan coffee mornings were held all over Wales, raising a fantastic £288,329.
This year the charity needs to raise even more to help fund its vital cancer services and advice for people with cancer who have financial problems. There are more than 200 Macmillan professional working in hospitals and the community across Wales. They include specialist nurses, doctors, dietitians and welfare benefits advisers.
Iolo Williams said:
'The help Macmillan provides to people affected by cancer in Wales is absolutely essential. Last year thousands of people across Wales helped raise more then £280,000. This year we want to top that figure. That’s why Macmillan is calling on everyone to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It’s a really fun event that is so easy to take part in, especially as you can tailor it to suit yourself, in fact it’s a piece of cake to help Macmillan!'
Last year two million people around the UK took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, raising a massive £7.5 million. This year the charity hopes to raise over £8 million from the event, on Friday 25 September.
Iolo added:
'There's no right or wrong way to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. You can have a traditional coffee morning at home or work, organise a glamorous coffee-themed evening, or even serve up smoothies or herbal tea instead of coffee. 'And don’t worry if you can’t hold your event on the official coffee morning day, just organise it at a time that suits you. The important thing is that all the money you raise will help improve the lives of people affected by cancer. So why not join the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on 25 September and help Macmillan reach more people affected by cancer?'
