RBS Staff take a hike!
A team of RBS staff members from RBS Real Estate Finance recently took part in The Great Highland Hike as a fundraising initative to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
A team from RBS who swapped suits for hiking boots has raised an impressive £1, 043.99 for charity by completing an epic hike across the Highlands, followed by a coffee morning and plenty of cakes!
Douglas McKegney and team completed The Great Highland Hike in 11 hours back in June 2011. During the hike the team endured blistered feet and sore muscles in aid of raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Muzo Emek of RBS St Andrew's Square branch then organised a cake sale as part of Macmillan's flagship fundraising event the World's Biggest Coffee Morning to add to the already fantastic total raised by the team.
Macmillan's Edinburgh Fundraising Manager Pamela Williamson said:
'It is tremendous that Douglas and his colleagues took on such an epic challenge and supported Macmillan so wholeheartedly. The money raised will go towards making life better for people affected by cancer by funding vital services that support people throughout every stage of their journey.'
