John Gilbertson, 62, an ex-fisherman from Broadford on the Isle of Skye, is travelling round the world by bicycle to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
John has explained that the plan is to connect our island families with those now living across the world. Cycle4Skye represents the charity group based in Broadford. John says, "I aim to cycle round the world, leaving in July this year and meeting up with as many Skye ex-pats as possible, post our photos on Facebook, and ask folk to donate £10 for every photo. The job now is to find sponsors/partners for this fundraising effort."
John will leave Skye on 2 July to join Macmillan Cancer Support's London to Paris bike challenge on 7 July, then continue to France, Italy, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, South America and North America.
