As a preview to the opening of our award-winning 'Legacy' garden at Gardening Scotland we invited local supporters to discuss the importance of gifts-in-wills to Macmillan.
Gifts in wills, fund over a third of all Macmillan Cancer Support’s services.
Surprised? Most people are which is why Macmillan hosted a legacy reception event recently at the Gardening Scotland Exhibition at The Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh. The event provided a rare opportunity to hear lots about Macmillan’s work in the local area, meet Macmillan’s amazing professionals, as well as the regional Macmillan legacy adviser Jonathan Frost.
A couple of guests commented 'Having known people with cancer and seen the help Macmillan have given them. It's nice to support as many people as possible'. 'A close friend died last year from cancer and Macmillan was very supportive, please send me a copy of your Guide to wills and legacies.'
Gifts in wills are vital in enabling Macmillan to provide medical, emotional, financial and practical support now and for future generations of people affected by cancer.
