Opening of the new Antrim unit
Thursday 8 March marked the opening of the new palliative care unit at Antrim Area Hospital and Northern Ireland Health Minister Edwin Poots was there to cut the ribbons.
The £5m unit is jointly funded by the Northern Trust and Macmillan, thanks to a massive £2.1m raised from our supporters across Northern Ireland. We also gave another £800,000 which will help cover staff costs.
The much needed unit has 12 ensuite rooms and provides additional facilities for relatives. It’s the first of its kind and will ensure that people in the Northern Trust get high quality end of life care, whether they have cancer or another kind of life limiting illness.
