Joelle Leader, Macmillan’s new Head of Volunteering spent an enjoyable morning at our Cancer Information and Support Centre at Worcestershire Royal Hospital on 10 January.
Joelle was keen to meet the seven volunteers who were awarded the Deborah Hutton Award last year, as well as other volunteers at the Centre. Some lively discussions took place over tea and coffee about a wide range of subjects associated with volunteering and, in particular, volunteering in the Cancer Information and Support Centres.
The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centres which can be found on the ground floor at the three hospitals within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust offer a warm and friendly welcome to anyone affected by cancer. They are all staffed by a health professional supported by a team of volunteers. They are a drop-in service offering free, confidential advice, support and information, signposting to other services and organisations, information about support groups and provide resources for health and social care professionals. The Centres are at The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, Kidderminster Hospital and Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
