Wessex Garages on Feeder Road has chosen Macmillan as its Charity of the Year to raise funds for during 2013.
Kaeti Morrison, Fundraising Manager for Bristol & North Somersetat Macmillan Cancer Support, said, 'The support of Wessex Garages for 2013 is perfect for us.
'The dealership will help us by raising valuable funds so we can keep providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support for those affected by cancer.
'There are more than 11,500 people in the Bristol area living with and beyond cancer and every penny Wessex Garages raises will help us reach out to even more people who need our support.
'Oe in four of these people will lack support from family or friends during their treatment and recovery. We believe this is wrong and that’s why we’ve launched our Not Alone campaign, to make sure that no-one has to face cancer alone.'
Macmillan Cancer Support helps patients, carers, families, friends, employers and communities every step of the way in dealing with a diagnosis. The Not Alone campaign is encouraging everyone to play their part. If you think that someone you know might be experiencing isolation then you can help by following advice online at www.macmillan.org.uk/notalone.
Wessex Garages will be holding a variety of fundraising events for the charity throughout the year, such as sponsored cycle rides and golf days, as well as joining in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September.
Chris Fortune, General Manager of Wessex Garages on Feeder Road, added, 'We chose Macmillan Cancer Support as our Charity of the Year for 2013 because of the valuable work it does in the community.
'This is the first time we have supported the charity and we look forward to raising funds to help the cancer sufferers and their close family and friends throughout 2013.'
