Part of Geoff's training regime is to drag a huge tyre through his local park
Local business man Geoff Major, 50, is trekking to the North Pole in April 2012 to raise £100,000 for 10 worthy charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support.
Geoff is undertaking a really tough training regime, part of which includes dragging a huge tyre around his local park to physically prepare himself for the extreme challenge ahead. Geoff will be tackling below freezing conditions and braving polar bears to achieve his goal of reaching the North Pole. The trip has been organised by Charity Challenge which has previously worked with celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and Chris Moyles.
Simon Albert managing director of Charity Challenge said: "It is difficult to explain just how hard this challenge will be for Geoff. The risks include frostbite, polar bears, thin ice and temperatures between -10 and -35 degrees."
One of the ways Geoff is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support is by offering local companies the opportunity to have their logo on a flag that will be photographed at the North Pole, the minimum donation for which is £50. This has proved hugely popular and there are only 55 places left on the flag, so if you are interested please contact Clara White, Macmillan Fundraising Manager on 07809 554 960 or email cwhite@macmillan.org.uk|
