Months of planning finally paid off when the Mayor of Solihull's 'Ball for All' took place on 20 March 2010 raising a staggering £9,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over 550 people, including regional civic heads and council officers, glammed up for the event at the National Motorcycle Museum for an evening of eating, dancing and raising lots of money.
Guests enjoyed a three-course meal and a live band while the Mayor's secretary Victoria Phillips sang a faultless rendition of Amazing Grace. Solihull resident Angela Profit, who was diagnosed with cancer nine years ago, gave a speech about the sterling work undertaken by Macmillan nurses and praised the care she received.
The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Norman Davies said:
'This was a great night, which I hope everyone who attended really enjoyed. Beyond all the fun and entertainment the ball achieved its aim in raising a lot of money for our chosen charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Mayoral charities. The amount we raised definitely makes all the hard work of organising worthwile.'
Well done to everyone involved.
