Wes and Richard supported by ex-Wolves and England player Steve Bull who will be joining them on the final day
Two Macmillan supporters from Patshull Park Hotel, Golf & Country Club are taking on a massive golfing challenge all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support this June.
Supporter Wes Sheldon and his life long friend and PGA Golf Professional Richard Bissell, will be playing 21 golf courses in 21 counties in just seven days!
The pair will tee off their challenge on Monday 21 June starting at Stockport Golf Club in Cheshire, their journey will take them to this years Ryder Cup venue, The Celtic Manor Resort before culminating at their home course of Patshull Park Golf Club on Sunday 27 June.
The pair have also organised a charity golf day with gala dinner and fundraiser to be held at Patshull Park on Friday 9 July and application forms are available at the Pro Shop on 01902 700342.
'I became involved with fundraising for Macmillan following my wife, Sarah, being diagnosed and treated for cervical cancer in 2005 and also ovarian cancer in 2009,' said Wes. 'While I’m pleased to say Sarah is well on her way to a full recovery, during both of these occasions she was offered much needed advice and support by Macmillan, so I know first hand how valuable their services are.'
'So after a few drinks one night in the pub, I persuaded Richard to do the Golf Challenge with me and I’m sure all the golfers out there will appreciate the enormity of the challenge we have set ourselves.'
'All the courses have been extremely supportive to us along with Premier Travel Inn who have provided complementary hotels for the week and we’re really delighted to now have the support of Brindley Volvo in Codsall who have kindly donated a Volvo XC70 for us to use for the duration of the challenge.
'To also have the local support of Steve Bull, ex Wolves and England footballer, who is joining us on the final day at Penn, South Staffs and Patshull Park is a fantastic boost for us.'
'We were delighted to have been contacted by Wes and Richard and are really pleased to be able to help with such a unique charity challenge and help such a worthwhile cause as Macmillan Cancer Support,' said Peterjohn Durrell, General Manager for Brindley Volvo. 'With the economy of the XC70 we’re hoping that they will do the full 7 days in 1 - tank of fuel that is!'
'Wes and Richard are undertaking a fantastic challenge for Macmillan and have set themselves a target of raising £10,000,' said Sharon Battersby, Fundraising Manager. 'We really hope all the golf courses on their journey in June really get behind them and support them in their fundraising.'
'The guys have a fantastic just giving page already set up so I would really encourage all golfers out there, who realise what a tough challenge this is, to support them by visiting www.justgiving.co.uk/golf4macmillan.'|
