Macmillan volunteer cuts ribbon
Wednesday 20 July saw the opening of a brand new Boots store at the St Andrews Retail Park Small Heath Birmingham. Another branch of the fantastic brand that is helping Macmillan reach even deeper into the community for people affected by cancer.
Cat Yates Fundraising Manager for Birmingham South and Solihull attended the event with local volunteers Janet and Peter.
Upon arrival to the event Janet explained to the team how she grew up just minutes around the corner over 60 years ago and how shocked she was at how much has been built since. She then had a surprise that she really wasn’t expecting.
The Area Manager overheard the conversation and asked if she would do the honour of cutting the ribbon to declare the store open! Something she was absolutely delighted to do.
The Boots team then carried on the day by selling raffle tickets, giving out goody bags and riding on an exercise bike at the front of the store in support of the Macmillan Miles challenge, a fundraiser especially set up as part of the Boots Partnership.
So if you’re thinking of volunteering, this is the perfect example as to the variety of activities you may be involved with.
