Andy hands over £1450 from his charity glam rock show
Macmillan Cancer Support would like to say a huge thank you to local Solihull resident Andy Alberti and his glam rock band, the Glammie Dodgers, for raising an amazing £1450 for Macmillan.
Andy raised this fantastic total by organising a sell-out glam rock gig at the Ivy Leaf in Sheldon earlier this year, for both Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research. Andy has supported Cancer Research for many years but decided to also donate to Macmillan this year following his terminal cancer diagnosis and the support he has received from Macmillan.
Cat Yates, fundraising manager for Macmillan, met Andy when he recently presented his cheque to Macmillan: ‘Thanks so much to Andy, this generous donation will really make a difference to lives of people affected by cancer, of any type and status, by providing medical, emotional, financial and practical support. We couldn’t continue to do work we do without the support of people like Andy.’
Cancer affects one in three of us, but Andy has proved that a diagnosis doesn’t have to hold you back. Andy is keen to continue promoting both Macmillan and Cancer Research, so watch this space for any upcoming developments.
If you have been left feeling inspired by Andy’s journey and would like more information on Macmillan and holding your own fundraising event, please contact the Birmingham and Black Country Fundraising Office on 0121 742 6393 or email birminghamandblackcountry@macmillan.org.uk| to receive your fundraising pack.
