MacRide Tour celebrate
In glorious weather over the May Day weekend, sixty cyclists made the 106 mile journey from the Olympic site in London to Stratford-Upon-Avon.
The MacRide Tour, set to become an annual event with a different start venue each year, raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support and early indications are that well over £10,000 will have been raised.
A number of local Warwickshire businesses supported the event, including Johnsons Coaches, Oldhams Removals and Robinson Goss who provided the transport and vehicles for the weekend.
DCS Europe generously sponsored the medals that were presented to all those that took part and the essential ride guide. The Arden Hotel were there to provide welcome drinks at the finish at the theatre on Sunday afternoon.
Event organiser Rob Gullen said: 'We had all sorts of riders on all sorts of bikes, with every one having great fun right from the start with the coach trip down to London. To many of the riders this was a real challenge. The funds raised for Macmillan will be aggregated with the other local MacRide events, adding to the £170,000 raised so far.'
