Firewalking
Pentlands Business and Tax Advisors held a daring fundraising fire walk for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Friends, family and business associates of Warwick based Pentlands were invited to take part in this exciting event where participants were sponsored to walk over burning wood reaching temperature of 500 degrees. The event saw 60 brave souls take part on the evening of the 11 May.
Run by Survivorbility Ltd, the fire walk took place in the beautiful grounds of Mallory Court Hotel, near Leamington Spa and all those who dared to walk attended a seminar to prepare them for the challenge and build up their courage.
The night was a huge success with all 60 participants triumphantly crossing the burning wood in front of an eager audience. Thanks to these fearless firewalkers a whopping £3,000 was raised to support three charities including Macmillan.
Fundraising Manager Karen Shortt said: 'One of the most wonderful aspects of my job is seeing the fantastic lengths our supporters will go to raise money for people affected by cancer. I am incrediby grateful to Pentlands for deciding to put on this exciting event and of course to Mallory Court Hotel for agreeing to host it in their beautiful grounds.
'I would especially like to thank all those who joined me on this exciting challenge for their fantastic fundraising efforts. One in three people will receive a cancer diagnosis and as treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support and the money raised will therefore make a real difference to people affected by cancer.'
