Jason, Mark and Sudhir
A Copthorne man and two friends are embarking on an epic cycling challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support who are supporting his Grandfather.
Jason Couchman, with friends Mark King-Lee and Sudhir Kumra will be cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End beginning on Sunday 15 April, taking 13 days averaging 85 miles per day. Two members of the team, Jason and Mark are not cycling novices, having previously cycled from London to Paris, which inspired them to take up this latest challenge.
The team will be accompanied by Sudhir’s wife Leena in a camper van where the team will sleep and carry supplies. They are hoping to be at Lands End by 3pm on 28 April to be met by family and friends.
So far over £4,775 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support. Jason decided to use this ride to support Macmillan after his Grandfather was diagnosed with cancer in November last year and has been supported by a Macmillan nurse ever since.
Jason says: ‘It really wasn’t a hard decision whom to support with this challenge. While is it a personal challenge we all love the fact that through pushing ourselves so hard we can help others. We know that the work that Macmillan does makes a difference, and as such we want to help as much as possible.’
Sussex Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Harriet Fairbrother says: ‘We want to wish the team the best of luck with this challenge. The money they raise will make a huge difference to the lives of local people affected by cancer.’
