Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield recently held a gala dinner to mark Macmillan Cancer Support’s Centenary and raised a fantastic £12,265.
The event was an opportunity for guests to sample the cooking of four Michelin starred chefs in the beautiful surroundings of Ockenden Manor.
Annie Tomsett, events manager at Ockenden manor said, 'We know the great work Macmillan does locally and with it being their centenary this year we thought it would be the perfect cause to support through this event.'
A large proportion of the money raised came from generously donated prizes, skilfully auctioned by Ian Medhurst. The prizes included signed Michel Roux cook books, Ridgeview wine and a dinner party to be catered by Ockenden Manor’s Head Chef Stephen Crane for the winner and 8 friends secured by the top bidder for £2,300.
The money raised from this event will be going towards Macmillan’s appeal to build the Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre. The next event that Ockenden Manor is planning is a Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, on Friday 30th September from 10am until midday.
