Southern Water plc held their annual Charity Ball at the Effingham Park, Copthorne Hotel on 31 May 2012 and raised a staggering £60,000 for their nominated charities! Over 400 guests enjoyed the spectacular evening with entertainment from Can Can dancers and comedians at the Moulin Rouge themed ball. Over 2011 and 2012 Southern Water have raised over £27,000 for Macmillan and specifically to support the Sussex Macmillan Cancer Support Centre, through the charity ball and a race day at Fontwell Racecourse in 2011 as well as being involved in 'World's Biggest Coffee Morning'.

Not even the weather could dampen the spirits of Fernhurst Cricket Club, as they took on the newly formed South Coast Lions, in the second annual charity cricket on the 22nd August. With teas made, gazebos put up and Macmillan flags and balloons fluttering, the ground had a carnival feel to it even before the first ball was bowled. Some big hitting was the order of the day to entertain the crowd, who, despite the weather, had turned up on mass.
