Students who took part in the Big Hush.
A group of first year students took part in their annual school sponsored silence, The Big Hush, raising nearly £2,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
St George’s College, Weybridge has supported Macmillan for over 9 years by taking part in the annual event and has raised over £35,700 for the cancer charity. Students are actively encouraged to take part and ask friends and family for sponsorship in reward of their efforts not to talk. On 1 March teachers were able to hear a pin drop whilst the 110 students took part in the big hush between 8.50am and 12.55pm.
Helene Poursain, Surrey fundraising manager for Macmillan says, 'I was delighted to hear that students at St Georges College were supporting us through the Big Hush for the 9th consecutive year and once again they have surpassed expectations by raising such a fantastic amount. What they have raised is enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for nearly two and half weeks. A big thank you to everyone involved.'
