Moira Mitchell received cheque from Roger Nelson
Reigate Rotary’s President (2011-2012) Roger Nelson is pleased to hand over a cheque for £4,000 to Macmillan following a successful year of fundraising activities
Having chosen Macmillan as his charity of the year for 2011-2012 Roger Nelson was keen to hold lots of fundraising activities to help people affected by cancer. With the help of this Rotarians Roger organised a quiz night, a collection at the Harlequin theatre, a golf day and a fantastic music event called Music for Macmillan. The members of the Rotary club got behind his charity and were key to ensuring they raised as much as they could.
As Helene Poursain Fundraising Manager for Surrey explains: 'I am so grateful to Roger & the Reigate Rotary for the money that they have raised. This money can really help local people in Surrey who are living with cancer. In fact £4,000 pounds could fund a Macmillan nurse for four weeks like the new Haemotology CNS at the East Surrey Hospital who will are currently funding to support blood cancer patients.'
