Robert and Dan finished Run to the Beat in well under their target time
Two friends raised over £1,100 for running the Run to the Beat half marathon back in September.
Robert Farrington from Horley and his friend and former colleague Dan Whittingham completed the Run to the Beat half marathon and raised a considerable sum for Macmillan Cancer Support. The pair enjoy sports but had never undertaken a serious run. They decided to take part because Robert’s employer Scotia Gas Networks has been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support this year and it was the perfect opportunity to do something different.
The dynamic duo put in hours of training before the race which certainly paid off and allowed both to complete the race well within their ambition of 2 ½ hours.
Helene Poursain, fundraising manager for East Surrey, said: “Robert and Dan have achieved something amazing. Not only have they completed a half marathon within their target time but their efforts in fundraising have really made a difference to people affected by cancer. A huge thank you is well deserved."
