Rotary Club of Ipswich Orwell raises £3,500

We're delighted that the Rotary Club of Ipswich Orwell have raised a fantastic £3,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support to help us continue to provide vital services to people affected by cancer.

The Rotary Club of Ipswich Orwell is part of the world-wide Rotary movement raising financial support for humanitarian causes. We would like to thank them for raising an incredible £3,500 during 2010/11 by choosing Macmillan as their charity of the year.

They organised the Alton Water Spring Walk on April 10th, a 7.5 mile walk around the Alton Water Reservoir, Ipswich. 1/3rd of all sponsorship monies raised was given to Macmillan and there were more participants than ever before. The club also organised a golf day in May for teams of individuals as well as local businesses.

Holly Lambert, fundraising manager for East Suffolk and Waveney was delighted to attend a recent club lunch to receive the cheque from 2010/11 Club President, Carol Lockett. The money the club raised is enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for nearly a month. Our nurses visit people in their homes to provide practical, medical and emotional support. Thank you to the Rotary Club for making such a difference!
