Caring local law firm Jones & Co Solicitors have raised £1,520 for Macmillan Cancer Support following their free will writing initiative in Bawtry and the local area.
In support of the charity and to encourage more people to update their wills, Jones & Co. offered to write clients’ wills for free during October. Though waiving their fees, Jones & Co. encouraged clients to make a minimum cash donation of £50 per will to Macmillan for the service.
96% of Macmillan’s funding comes from voluntary donations, over a third of which is from gifts in wills. Without these vital donations the development of cancer support services across the UK would not be possible.
Philip Armstrong, Head of Probate at Jones & Co. says: 'We helped 24 more people to write their wishes than usual during this initiative. Many of our clients were happy to show their support for Macmillan’s vital work and pleased with the legal service we provided. The money raised will help to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.'
Amy Hebdon, the local fundraising manager at Macmillan says: 'Thank you to everyone who took up Jones & Co’s offer and made a generous donation to Macmillan. Whether you choose to donate now, in your will or both, your support is vital to ensure that more services likeMacmillan small grants which are provided to people in financial difficulty because of their illness will be available to future generations of people affected by cancer in Doncaster.'
When it comes to your will, it’s only right that your family and friends come first. But that doesn’t mean you can’t also leave a gift to a cause you believe in. To find out more, please visit www.macmillan.org.uk/legacies|
