MKB Solicitors joined forces with Macmillan Cancer Support throughout October 2012 to exclusively offer a free will-writing service during the month to the people of Barnsley.
For a limited time only, MKB Solicitors waived their fees for clients willing to make a voluntary donation of £50 per will created to Macmillan and raised a staggering £5,809 plus gift aid.
97% of Macmillan’s funding comes from voluntary donations, over a third of which is from gifts in wills. Without these vital donations the development of cancer support services across the UK, such as the nurses, the physiotherapists, benefits advisors Macmillan have funded in Barnsley would not be possible.
Steven Dawson, Head of the Private Client Department at MKB, commented: 'MKB Solicitors were very proud to volunteer our legal expertise to help Macmillan Cancer Support. Including gift aid we raised an incredible £7,027 which we’re delighted with. We were hoping to beat last year’s amount of £4,230 but we didn’t think we’d beat it by so much! We’re honored to help Macmillan provide vital support services to people affected by cancer in the local area.'
Amy Hebdon, Fundraising Manager at Macmillan says: 'W’re extremely grateful to MKB Solicitors for supporting Macmillan through this initiative again. I’d also like to thank everyone who supported the campaign; we couldn’t do it without the generosity of supporters. Their support is vital to ensuring that more services will be available to future generations of people affected by cancer in Barnsley.'
MKB Solicitors are running the campaign again in 2013, if you would like to register your interest, please contact Amy on 07809 554965 or email
