Esquires Coffee House on Wheatley Hall Road, Doncaster has won this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Trophy for the second year running.
The Macmillan Corporate Coffee Cup was launched for the first time last year in South Yorkshire to celebrate Macmillan’s centenary and encourage more businesses to take part in coffee morning.
In South Yorkshire, Esquires Coffee House, Wheatley has been awarded the silver cup again after beating off all competition by far (including all the companies in Sheffield!) and raising a magnificent £2,355.
Amy Hebdon, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Doncaster commented: 'I’m delighted the trophy will be remaining at Esquires Coffee House. Steve Patania and the team there were so dedicated to raising funds, they really wanted to beat last year’s amount of £1,462 and I can’t believe how much over this amount they went!'
Steve Patania, owner of Esquires Coffee House Wheatley, added: 'Two years ago, we very sadly lost my sister to cancer and this was an incredibly difficult time for my family. The help we received from Macmillan during her illness was invaluable and, following this experience, I vowed to give something back to the charity as a tribute to my sister.
'I was overwhelmed with the support and donations we received during our fundraising and to win this accolade is simply the cherry on the cake. I’d like to thank everyone who has helped us to raise such a fantastic figure and I look forward to trying to beat our donation with an even larger amount for 2013!'
