A pupil at St Francis Xavier School takes part in the Fun Run
St Francis Xavier School in Richmond, North Yorkshire, held a Fun Run recently and raised £1859.00 for Macmillan
The sad death of a much loved and respected teacher to cancer prompted an outpouring of grief and a sharing of similar tragedies within the small secondary school community.
Determined to show solidarity and do something positive to fight cancer - which has brought pain and suffering to many families - the whole school community joined forces on 22 July to complete a fun run and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The hot and sticky weather did not deter the budding runners and walkers who came out to show their support along with an interesting costume or two. With a good mixture of fun, tenacity and team spirit they helped to raise an impressive £1800 for the charity and the fight against this deadly disease.
Lindsay Kay, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan in the Tees Valley, would like to say a huge thank you to staff and pupils at St Francis Xavier School. The funds raised will make a difference to local people affected by cancer.
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face. But you don't have to go through it alone. The Macmillan team is here to support you every step of the way.
