Give yourself a goal for Macmillan
It’s the time of year when many of us make resolutions and decide to work on our fitness. What better way to stay focused and dedicated than to sign up to take part in an organised event? Why not help to raise money for charity at the same time.
Sally Millington, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan explains, ‘January is traditionally a time when many people decide it’s time to get fit but despite good intentions it can be difficult on the dark mornings and nights to get motivated and stay motivated. A good way to stay focused is to sign up to be a part of an organised event, and why not ask for sponsorship for all your hard work? There are so many different events happening across the region for all sorts of different activities, and we would love people to join team Macmillan, and help us to raise money for people who are affected by cancer.’
Events include walks such as the Shipley Stride and the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, runs including the York 10k, and Great North Run, swims, triathlons and cycling events. For more details please visit the website www.macmillan.org.uk/fundraising
‘We hope that people will sign up to be a part of the Macmillan team, there’s a real sense of camaraderie on the day, and it will help to raise essential funds. Every day more and more people are facing the toughest fight of their lives and need us in their corner. To be there for them we rely completely on your support. Please give your money, time or energy this year and be part of the team. We are Macmillan Cancer Support and we would love you to join us. ’
