We're delighted that the Picnic at the Castle event organised by our fantastic King's Lynn Fundraising Committee raised over £2,500 to help support local people affected by cancer.
Around 200 people enjoyed the event at historic Castle Rising, organised by the King's Lynn committee of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Committee member JudyCurtis came up with the idea for the event, having previously attended a similar one.
She said: 'I thought it was a lovely idea, and it turned out really well. Everyone enjoyed themselves. An event like this is really dependant on the weather, so we were lucky it stayed nice and dry.'
People brought their own picnics, tables and chairs, and watched the sun go down to music from the Jazzmin Dixieland Band.
There was also a raffle and a tour of the castle dungeons, with every penny raised going to Macmillan.
Mrs Curtis, who organised the evening with the help of her husband Charlie, said the event was held at the castle thanks to permission from Lord Greville Howard, and the band performed for free.
We'd like to extend a huge Macmillan thank-you to our King's Lynn committee and to everyone who came along and helped make this event such a fantastic success.
