Cheques presentation at Holgate's Caravan Park
Award-winning caravan park raises £5000 for local people affected by cancer.
A Charity Evening held at Holgate's Caravan Park in Silverdale has raised more than £5,000 for Macmillan.
A hotpot supper was enjoyed by more than 300 guests along with an evening of entertainment, including a raffle, auction and dancing to the music of the Eden Ceilidh band.
The Holgate family have been running multi-award winning five star caravan parks in the area for 60 years, and have recently been awarded the top title of England and Overall AA Campsite of the Year 2011 in the AA Campsite of the Year Awards.
Michael Holgate said 'We’re proud to be working with such an important charity as Macmillan, we’ve had some fantastic feedback from the event which has exceeded our expectations and we plan to build on these successes next year.'
Aggie Sheppard, Area Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support said: 'We are delighted that Holgates Caravan Parks chose Macmillan to benefit from their charity evening, which was a great success.
'Every day, more than 800 people are told they have cancer and it’s Macmillan’s ambition to reach everyone affected. All the money raised will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services in the local area, from specialist nurses and doctors, to help and advice for people who have financial problems as a result of their illness.'
