Plans are underway for an epic Race Night fundraiser in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support which is being organised by Cardy Construction in Canterbury.
The evenings entertainment will involve live music from local musician David Shepard and will take place on Saturday 8 June from 7pm – 1am at the Kent County Cricket Club located at the city’s St Lawrence Ground.
Cardy are regular supporters of Macmillan and last year raised over £7,000 from running the London Marathon and holding various fundraising events. This year Andrea Stannard, Michael Stannard, Michael Peppiatt and Chris Gremo recently completed the Paris and London Marathons in April in a bid to beat their 2012 fundraising total.
Not content with pounding the streets of these two amazing cities, the lads from the team have now decided to take on an even bigger challenge, a 69 mile Ultra Marathon which takes place next month from 22 to 23 June, ensuring this year they have really raised the bar.
The Wall Run will see the guys running across Hadrian’s Wall from Carlisle Castle to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The route is of mixed-terrain incorporating both on and off-road sections and completing it will be a real test of endurance and mental strength.
So far in 2013 the Cardy team has managed to raise over £3000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through generous donations from friends, family and work colleagues but by completing the 69 mile race they hope to bring in £10,000.
Marathon Runner and Cardy Team motivator, Chris Gremo, said: 'Completing my 7th London Marathon was fantastic and it was such an amazing atmosphere this year – definitely the best one I have experienced. Unfortunately, our close friend and colleague Carl Cochrane recently passed away from cancer and we are now more determined than ever to reach our target for Macmillan after seeing the support that he received.'
Tickets for the Race Night are priced at £25 per person and tables seat 8 to 10 people. To reserve your tickets for this wonderful event please contact Charley on email@example.com.
Alternatively, you can make a donation to Macmillan via Cardy’s Virgin Money Giving page.
