Nearly 100 individuals, groups and businesses across the island registered to hold a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event on Friday, 25 September, with the common goal of helping raise over £8m for Macmillan Cancer Support, and tens of thousands more turned out to attend the various activities!
Macmillan Cancer Support’s Regional Director Steve Richards said:
‘I would like to thank each and every person who helped to make the 2009 World’s Biggest Coffee Morning the biggest and best yet. Every penny you have raised will fund more of our vital services and help to develop new ways to change lives. And for that, we think you should feel good ! Once again it’s been a great success, and the people of the Isle of Wight got behind us whole-heartedly, helping us raise thousands of pounds. ‘Every year we raise more and more from the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. It’s an event that really seems to capture the interest of all kinds of groups, from large UK-wide businesses, to individuals and small community organisations. ‘This was the 19th year Macmillan Cancer Support has held World's Biggest Coffee Morning, and it only seems to get more popular. Here’s to another successful event…we’ll see you again next September!’
