Celebrating at the summit
Terry Prosser and Tony Lewis from Herefordshire climbed 5,896m to the summit Uhuru, the highest point in Africa.
Tony and Terry from Herefordshire were part of a group undertaking the fundraising trek for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The trip followed the Machamé Route and the group spent seven days on the mountain, instead of the normal six. Thus giving them more time to acclimatise to the altitude and increasing their chances of reaching the summit. The boys successfully made it to the summit Uhuru taking on the demanding terain and weather conditions.
However, the satisfaction of a hugely successful fundraising bid that bought in £9,000 and achieving the challenge of reaching the summit has only made Terry and Tony more determined to do more for Macmillan. 'It's been a pleasure raising funds for Macmillan, we are both already thinking about another big adventure to follow Kilimanjaro'. Well done boys!
