The grand opening of the centre for which the mayor was present
Macmillan has teamed up with Portsmouth City Council to try and improve cancer information for people in the city by launching a new information service.
The new project in local libraries will offer free access to help and resources for anyone affected by cancer, including families and carers.
A Macmillan information station has been installed in the foyer of Portsmouth Central library, and will operate a drop-in service every Tuesday from 11am to 2pm, and every Thursday from 10am to 1pm.
Materials will also be made available at each library involved in the project throughout the city.
Suzanne Phillips, Macmillan library project officer. said: ‘This joint project provides a great opportunity for the library service to ensure that quality cancer-related information is made more accessible to local people.’
